Dear Students;

Nutrition and Dietetics Science is defined as the science of the 21st century. The diet of an individual is an important factor that determines and affects not only his physical condition, but also his mental health and social status. Adequate, healthy and quality nutrition not only plays an important role in protecting and improving the health of the society, but also ensures the quality of life of the individual and society. Due to all these features, the subject of nutrition and the profession of dietitian attract the attention of many professional groups.

In national and international scientific studies; The effectiveness of creating and applying individual diet programs has been proven in the prevention and treatment of many diseases from cardiovascular diseases to diabetes, from colon cancer to depression, from Alzheimer’s disease to hypertension, from metabolic syndrome to osteoporosis, and to improve the quality of life.

Nutritionist; not only a member of the profession who organizes healthy nutrition programs for healthy individuals and medical nutrition programs for patients, but also prepares nutrition programs in mass feeding places; He is an important healthcare professional who provides the management and organization of mass nutrition institutions and organizations, works as an educator in educational institutions and organizations, and takes part in the creation of the country’s nutrition plans and policies.

Today, dietitians, with the education they have received and the equipment they have gained, in addition to all health institutions such as hospitals, public health centers, as well as all mass nutrition institutions (pre-school education institutions, primary and secondary schools, higher education institutions, nursing homes, banks, public institutions). , armed forces, factories, food factories, …) they work in many areas such as food industry, tourism sector, sports centers, nutrition and diet counseling centers.

Our department was established in the 2011-2012 academic year as a part of the School of Health Sciences, under the roof of Hasan Kalyoncu University, which is a recognized and preferred university in its region. It gave its first graduates in 2014-2015.

First of all, the education staff of our department, which continues its education and training within the School of Health Sciences, has been enriched with the education staff, which can be considered the strongest in our country, both in terms of quantity and quality, since 2015-2016. Our department has the physical conditions (classrooms and laboratories) and professional practice opportunities that can provide an effective education.

Our department has been carrying out educational activities within the Faculty of Health Sciences since 2017-2018. Our department started its graduate education in 2015-2016 and doctoral education in 2017-2018.

The aim of our department is to train respected and highly qualified dietitians and health educators who serve for the protection, maintenance and development of public health in our country and region, sensitive to social problems and socially responsible, giving priority to innovative, scientific, humanitarian and ethical values, taking an active role in health policies. to raise.

 

Our department’s vision/vision for the future is to be a preferred, respected and leading department that is recognized at national and international level in its field with its researches, education and services.
